Many viewed this past MLK Day as another holiday. Students experienced a three day weekend, and a good number of employers did not require their workers to come in. And while some recuperated with much needed rest and others spent the day on a beachfront, roughly 300 people returned home from an annual event that would have made the late Dr. King, Jr. smile.
Launched five years ago, the Playmaker Bowl, hosted by the Tampa Bay Church, is a mid-January flag football tournament that unites various cities and churches together in a fun and fulfilling weekend. Co-envisioned by Ronald Michel and Stevan Alvarez and brought to fruition by them and their executive board, the competition has grown from roughly five Floridian metropolitans in 2004 to include representatives from over ten cities throughout Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, and Delaware. |

"He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." - Revelations 3:5-6 On Sunday, January 6th, the Tampa Bay Church held its annual workshop to fix our sights for the year 2008. It was an inspiring time of worship, prayer and remembrance. God has done so much in the Tampa Bay Church. To say that the Tampa Bay Church has “overcome” many challenges in the last few years would be an understatement. We have faced the fires of trial, embraced the discipline of God and are now seeing the harvest of righteousness that God promises to those who are trained by Him. |

"Go and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19
The heart of the Tampa Bay Church has a special chord of love that heads south to the city of La Paz, Bolivia.
