It is a "Creationism vs. Evolution" debate featuring our own, Dr. Douglas Jacoby vs. the renowned skeptic, Dr. Michael Shermer. The event is at the University of Florida in Gainesville and takes place this Monday night, October 27th.

In a Nutshell: Having studied the early writings of the apostolic church, and then working through the centuries through the Patristic, ante-Nicene and Post-Nicene 'fathers' of the church, Bercot finds some fascinating discrepancies between the earliest beliefs of the church founded in the first century and the (21st), and how we arrived here.

An absolutely convicting read. Bercot opens up with the execution of Polycarp, a disciple of the apostle John), and from there opens a discussion about how the early church appeared to be much closer to the church described in the Book of Acts. From this point, Bercot gives a succinct history of how the early church's purpose and message came to be twisted and modified over the ensuing centuries, and it is frankly a disturbing reading.

We are very thankful for all the hard work and love that John and Marisabel Becker put into the High School Ministry and for how God is now blessing them in their new ministry in Atlanta.

After they left, we issued an open invitation to all the parents of youth in the church and the youth workers to come to a planning meeting at the Tarte's house on August 23rd. We had about 20 people come, including High School and Middle School parents, teen workers and three High School teens for a spiritual lesson, a prayer, and a planning session.
