The Lifehouse Everything skit is somewhat of an internet phenomenon. A youtube search gives over 3,000 hits on variations of the same play. The reason for the popularity is because of the message it delivers. Using only pantomime and a very compelling song named Everything by the group Lifehouse, we see our Creator (God/Jesus) make man in his image. After some obvious bonding, man is separated from God by sin. Sin takes the shape of desire, drugs, alcohol, money, pride and death, all portrayed in the play very graphically. After watching about 15 different versions, I decided to make it more personal and use a man as the main protagonist. So far it is the only one I have seen with a male perspective. So instead of God dancing with a female, we changed it to God playing catch with a male. Drugs, alcohol and money stayed the same. We did change a woman’s desire to be attractive with a man’s pride and desire to be powerful and independent. Please enjoy the skit, don’t hold back the tears and let it move you as it has me. |
