The auditorium roared with excitement as Rich and Amanda Bartoli approached the stage. The congregation stood tall and clapped vigorously, showing its respect for the spiritual couple. For years, the Bartolis had served as able teachers and campus leaders among other roles. However, December 2, 2007 marked a significant turning point in the couple’s life. This was the day appointed to Rich Bartoli to become a full-fledged evangelist. Many came from far and near to congratulate the Bartolis on their rite of passage. Among them were Julian (who Rich described as being his “spiritual father), Troy (a fellow evangelist and campus leader), and the Eargles (who lead the Tampa Bay Church of Christ). Old memories were reminisced by all. From full time ministry and mission teams to character development and dating life, the Bartolis were described by their friends to be more than conquerors throughout all of life’s challenges and blessings. ![]() Troy Criss Shares About Rich and Amanda At first glance, the distinction between their old role and their new role may appear insignificant. They will continue to serve in their same capacity for the time being. But make no mistake. The Bartolis are now embarking on a new journey. Leaving their training behind, the couple is now able to start their own congregation, when God makes it clear. They have “spiritually-graduated” to the next level, like college students from their academic studies. And like new graduates, the vigor and joy of commencement is clear. You see it in their eyes. You hear it in their voice. Their charge is clear to save the lost; their minds are aimed to change the world. ![]() Rich Bartoli Appointed Evangelist Fortunately for many of us, the Bartolis have no intentions of leaving soon. In my opinion, this decision stems from the couple’s Spirit of humility, which prompts them to seek advice and to obtain wise counsel. However, no one doubts that they will eventually leave to make their own missionary waves through and for Christ. Ultimately, the couple’s submissive attitude was made clear in Rich’s closing words before exiting the stage: “I believe in the life-changing ministry of Jesus…We have so much ground to cover…This is only the beginning…” Personally speaking, no one says such things unless committed to learning and serving others. Let us all continue to pray for their strength, courage, faith and focus as they embark upon this new chapter in their life. |
